TÉMOIN PRIVILÉGIÉ | NICOLAS LÉVESQUE

It’s while strolling around rue Racine and its revisited URBAN CINE-PARK that you will discover Racine(s), a short documentaries project. As soon as night falls, the store windows will be turned into movie screens. Strolling around, walkers will have the opportunity to see short portraits documenting the life of the individuals whose life have marked the past and present of Chicoutimi’s main street. These testimonies, gathered by video maker and photographer Nicolas Lévesque, will make you travel through time and will put some relief to the historical, commercial and political viewpoints as well as the daily reality of the people in question. As they go along their discoveries, the strollers will be reminded of the tracks left by the past while also encountering a revealing acknowledgement of the present-days universe in which they dwell every day.

This project, RACINE(S), fits within REGARD’s wish to implicate the creators from the region in putting emphasis on its heritage while underlining the particularities of its urban dynamism. “Témoin privilégié â» will be shown in the commerce’s windows of rue Racine in Chicoutimi between March 5th and 21st 2010. A website linked with the Festival’s and Saguenay’s sites will permit to prolong the project’s life. In this manner, people who are not around will also be able to take a virtual stroll on main street and discover these short documentary portraits.

This presentation of "Témoin privilégié", produced by Caravane Films Productions, promoter of the REGARD festival, is sponsored by Ville de Saguenay, Canada’s cultural Capital for year 2010.
