Sanctuaire screenplay by Andreas Mendritzki and Loin de chez vous screenplay by Émilie Perreault
Wednesday, March 13th at 1:30 PM, Salle du Marché, Hôtel Chicoutimi

It is often said that a great screenplay makes for a great film, but what elements guarantee a quality screenplay? Is it the story? The scene order? Or maybe the shooting locations, dialogues, or the emotions portrayed by the characters? How can a screenwriter find the ideal balance between these elements? Is there a certain framework to follow or should every story fall into its own own organization? And is it necessary to fully complete a script or can a screenwriter leave room for improvisation during filming?

Professional actors will be present to read Sanctuaire by Andreas Mendritzki and Loin de chez nous by Émilie Perreault. Both of these young screenwriters will benefit from the advice and criticism provided by our screenwriting consultant, Frédéric Ouellet, who wrote both the Grande Ourse television series as well as the full-length of the same name, which will be released in theatres in the near future. This gifted screenwriter will study each script extremely closely in order to nurture the methods of these young artists, who now face the various choices that the path between screenplay and filming demands of them.

For the past several years, REGARD has been a proud supporter of emerging talent. Come experience the growth of two young screenwriters and explore the universe of short film screenwriting.
