  Following her training at the Dramatic Arts Conservatory of Quebec, Guylaine Tremblay has taken on many roles, both serious and comedic. Her many prizes and nominations at the GÉMEAUX, ARTIS, MÉTROSTAR and JUTRA awards are a testament to her talent and popularity. Her career path in film stands as proof of her wide acting range as well as her loyalty to certain directors such as Bernard Émond (Contre toute espérance and 20h17 rue Darling) and Catherine Martin (Trois temps après la mort d’Anna and Mariages). She was recently seen in the movies Qu’est-ce qu’on fait ici by Julie Hivon, Le vrai du faux by Émile Gaudreault, and on stage as part of the cast of Belles-Soeurs. She was a Quebec favourite on the small screen in Annie et ses hommes and will long be remembered as the eccentric Caro in La petite vie. She currently shines in the universally praised tv series Unité 9.

  Helen Faradji arrived in Quebec in 1999, and has since practiced her profession as a movie critic with unyielding passion. The holder of a doctorate in film on the Coen Brothers and Tarantino, she is also chief editor at revue24images.com and collaborates with various media, including Catherine Perrin’s show at ICI, Première Chaîne, Médiafilm and TFO. 

• Gabriel Gauchet

  Gabriel lives and works in London. He is a graduate of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and holds a master’s degree from the UK’s National Film and Television School. Gabriel has directed various short films, amongst them Die Kneipe, Efecto Domino, The Mass of Men and recently Z1. His short films have been selected in over 300 festivals worldwide and won over 100 awards and nominations, amongst them the Golden Leopard at Locarno and the International Award at the festival REGARD for The Mass of Men.

  A graduate of economics and film studies, Ailton Jr. has been the director of the Brazilian festival Curta Cinema since its very first edition in 1990. An impor- tant showcase for short films in Brazil and abroad, the Curta Cinema festival presents over 250 shorts from over 30 different countries every year and shares many similarities with REGARD. Lastly, Ailton Jr. also produces various many short films, documentary and fiction fea- ture films, as well as television shows. He participates in international productions, and is a curator for many film festivals.

• André Forcier

  Since the early 1970s, André Forcier has directed thirteen feature films, as well as some shorts and documentaries, including a series about Louisiana, a region he adores. Acknowledged repeatedly by critics and juries of festivals overseas, his cinema is marked by popular imagination, in the vein of neorealist poetic-slang. His pugnacious characters have led to savoury interpretations from actors (Roy Dupuis, Gaston Lepage, France Castel, Céline Bonnier) who remain loyal to him from film to film. In 2003, he received the Albert-Tessier Prize for his body of work. This spring, he will start shooting his next film, Bébé Fourneau. 

• Sylvain Corbeil

  Born in Montreal, Sylvain Corbeil studied film at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Upon completing his studies, he organised Proje(c)t Y, a roving festival of quebecois short films where he met many young talented filmmakers. Noticing that a lack of support kept these talents from blossoming, he entered film production and founded Metafilms inc. in May 2003. To date, he has produced 16 short films that have been largely presented worldwide. He has also produced 13 feature films that have garnered both prestigious selections and awards on the international scene, such as Félix and Meira by Maxime Giroux, named Best Canadian film at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival last September.
