Young audiences programs
P'tites vues
March 16th ¬ 09:30:00 ¬ Salle François-Brassard
This year, the very young (2 to 7 year old) short movies adepts will meet up at 9:30 am in Jonquière on Saturday and in Chicoutimi on Sunday. The screenings will start at 10:30, but it is customary to entertain the curious and watchful young films-lovers and their escort before the screenings. Musicians and make-up artists greet the children. Parents, grand parents, neighbors, brothers and sisters also find their inner child once again. It is often the first movie group session for these young viewers. This activity is both a celebration and a movie session. Atchoum the clown is in charge of presenting the short movies in the room. The young ones are already in contact with the essence of the Shorties, the collective gaze on the big screen.

Elementary school session
March 14th ¬ 09:15:00 ¬ Salle Pierrette-Gaudreault
School screenings feature prominently at REGARD. The Caravane reaches elementary and high schools from all over our area. Itʼs their big movie event of the year. The young students learn to consider movies in another fashion than what is shown at the movie theatre, with their friends around them. The selection of short movies is varied, international and from Quebec. During 90 minutes, the young movie fans will see it all. They identify the movies that reach them the most by topic and technique, they discuss the movies with their family and relatives. This introduction to authorʼs cinema often leaves traces, students identify themselves to a regional cultural activity which takes place in their community. In addition to the Caravane, which offers REGARDʼs 17th year movie selection, the school panel also includes other screenings and workshops on the history of cinema. The Festival runs in regional schools from February to May and gives the young audience the chance to introduce themselves to authorʼs cinema from yesterday and today through short movies that reflect their time.
