Young audiences programs

March 16th ¬ 19:30:00 ¬ Écran de Neige
Once again this year – weather forecast seems to be in our favor… - REGARD will, in part, take place outside. After all, we are the one and only wintry short films festival of the northern hemisphere. Warmly dressed, disguised for the occasion, you can watch a short movie program between two snowdrifts and play hockey wearing Sorel boots.
We always provide blankets to lovers and chilly people for outdoor screenings. Downtown Chicoutimi belongs to us during the Festival. The screen is big enough for the short-sighted and the others too.
Young people meet up during each REGARD. You might even have caught a glimpse of girl or a boy last year…
Donʼt take chances, come back. SHE or HE is waiting for you. Us too.

The truth, the whole truth
Do not be fooled. Beware of those hoax masters that use fiction to stage a documentary. They call themselves “documenteurs” (a combination of “docu-“ as in “documentarist” and “menteurs” which means “liars” in French), therefore confessing the malicious pleasure they get in twisting the truth. To all those that were expecting a real end of the world in 2012, perhaps all is not lost! You can count on these nutty filmmakers to revisit it. If you believe action flicks are staged, wait until you see these documentaries!

From one extreme to the other
They defy standards and preconceived ideas. They push back the limits of what’s possible in order to surpass and express themselves while having fun. Their images sometimes make the viewers dizzy. For some of them, the camera becomes an extension of their senses. Follow these adepts – what am I saying, these disciples – of parkour, snowboard, skateboard and street art exploring the facets of liberty and of its extremes. Four (4) highly stylized web series for amateurs of beauty shots, sports diehards and thrills.
MTL 5-5-1
Watch in exclusivity two episodes of this series on parkour, an increasingly popular sport also known under the name freerunning, which looks like a hybrid between extreme sport and scripted and choreographed steeplechase. Jean-Philippe Sirois, producer and director of the series, carefully chose each "traceur" according to the "revisited" area and also draws inspiration from the style and outlook of the athletes in his artistic vision and visual and musical approach.
Short stories – 33mag
We are proud to present you the all-new, 33mag exclusive, snowboard series: "SHORT STORIES". Created in collaboration with Brian Hockenstein, editor of 33mag, it sees the light of day in January 2013 with the first episode starring Dave Short, a well-known rider native of Whistler.
Défense d’afficher
What street art says about the world
Défense d’afficher is a Web documentary entirely dedicated to “Street Art”. Contrary to popular thinking, street art is not “another world” but really a singular gaze on the world, or – perhaps – street art says the world. Rewatch the episodes of Athens and Paris which focus, among other things, on the European crisis and of the invasion of publicity in public spaces
Hee Haw! in Vietnam
Not much concrete, very few skateparks. On assumption, there are better skateboarding destinations. Guillaume Ziccarelli, 34 years old, photographer, simply travels to seek adventure whereas Hugo Maillard, 19 years old, travels for skateboarding. In Vietnam, Guillaume and Hugo will meet and hit the road together. Skateboarding in Vietnam? What an odd idea…

Fundraising event - Feuilles mobiles 3
Le Lobe is hosting, for a third year in a row, its major event, FEUILLES MOBILES. Over a hundred of artists produced, for this ultimate edition, an original work of art on a common medium: three ring binder ruled paper. In order to financially support the centre, the framed creations will be sold at the unique cost of $99 (payable in cash or by cheque). Get hold of a work of art and leave with it.
Furthermore, this year again, Carol Dallaire provides the centre with a series of five art prints called LES RICHES HEURES DE 728, as a draw. Officials from Lobe will be present at the Festival’s evenings to sell tickets; $2 a piece or three for $5. The draw will take place during the awards presentation on Sunday, March 17.
Sound diffusion – Martin Tétreault
Solo de batterie sur vinyles avec 4 tourne-disques
Disques vinyles, 4 tourne-disques et batterie / Vinyl records, 4 record players and drums
Durée / Length: 30 minutes
As part of series of concerts Le Lobe, in partnership with the organisme en production et diffusion Tartare (Québec), organized De_CONCERT, a one-time initiative aiming to get audio art outside of its regular network to an alternative place. During its second event, the centre greeted Martin Tétreault in January 2013. A rebroadcast of his two compositions around the record player is available in loop on the outdoors site of REGARD.
Martin Tétreault was born 1957 and lives in Montréal. DJ, improviser, sound designer, visual artist, he is internationally and locally renowned for his research and improvisational work on any and custom-made record players. He achieves audio performances with this eclectic gear, solo or with artists from various disciplines including music, dance, poetry or installation. He took part in many music, performance, audio arts and media arts events and festivals, lugging his equipment to America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
(DE_CONCERT received support from the Canada Council for the Arts’ New Music Program)
Public script reading Dispatch
March 14th ¬ 13:00:00 ¬ Salle Murdock
Collective feature film written by filmmakers France Guay, Jean Châteauvert, Nicolas Lévesque, Noémie Payant-Hébert and Bodgan Stefan, DISPATCH is composed of five parts, for which each filmmaker had entire editorial freedom while still following a thread to ensure the unity of the narrative. In order to successfully complete the challenge of working as a group on a single screenplay, La bande Sonimage invited director Louis Bélanger (Gaz Bar Blues, Route 132, Timekeeper) to join the project as a mentor. Now, the collective wants to hear a first version of its script by inviting seven actors and actresses to come on stage to share the fruit of its creation with you.
Reading hosted and commented by Jean Hamel.
DISPATCH
Somewhere north of Lac-Saint-Jean, between the woods and the remote camps, five stories unfold, against the backdrop of a fragmented conversation of a couple that everyone can listen to on a CB radio. This conversation, between Marc, who is on the road all week long, and Lise, who lives in Saguenay, focuses on their project of having children. It will echo throughout the five stories whose characters will share a reluctance to commit, fear and the desire to love.

Burqette live
March 16th ¬ 21:00:00 ¬ Salle Murdock
An hour with cartoonist and animation filmmaker Francis Desharnais, who will be creating live via the interactive website ONF.ca/Burquette. Accompanied by a musical performance from Pascal Beaulieu and a live chat with journalist and columnist Joël Martel, the author of the Burquette cartoon (Édition 400 coups) will bring his characters back to life through an anecdote provided by Internet users. This evening, hosted by Luc Picard, is presented by Attraction Image and the National Film Board of Canada.
And while youʼre at it, also visit the exhibition of the best weekly drawings published during the year on the website ONF.ca/Burquette and on Voir.ca.
LʼACTUALITÉ SELON BURQUETTE! - From March 13 to 29, in the exhibition hall of the Centre des arts et de la culture – 200, rue Hôtel-de-Ville, Chicoutimi.
Francis Desharnais
Cartoonist and animation filmmaker, Francis Desharnais is the author of the successful cartoon Burquette. The first volume of the series, published at the Éditions les 400 coups in 2008, earned him two Bédéis Causa prizes at the Festival de la bande dessinée francophone de Québec (FBDFQ), as well as several nominations such as the Bédélyss (2009) and the Joe Shuster Awards (2009).
Francis practices, since 2010, the art of live drawing and painting performance and is fully ready to take on the challenge that awaits him in 2012 with the online release of the interactive website Burquette, a coproduction of Attraction Image and the NFB. The website was in fact awarded the Best in Canadian Culture prize at the recent Digi Awards.

Projection Kabaret 3REG
March 17th ¬ 21:00:00 ¬ Le Sous-bois
Laboratory and broadcasting platform, 3REG is both experimental and social. Reminiscent of the Kino model, the creators periodically meet to present work. Unlike Kino though, each filmmaker draws inspiration from a given theme and must follow the “3 basic rules”: shoot in 24 hours, no more than five minutes length and use public domain content. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the movement founded in Saguenay, both members and non-members will get together during 48 hours for a collective creative sprint under the theme of identity. Come celebrate spontaneity and imagination with our own filmmakers.
Creative laboratory located at the Espace Michael Snow – Galerie Séquence – Open from Thursday, March 15, 8 a.m. to Saturday, March 16, 12 p.m. (noon)
TRAILER 3
March 15th ¬ 22:00:00 ¬ Le Sous-bois
Pierre Néron and Carnior (Monsieur Phylactère-Cola) present the complete 3rd edition of TRAILER, a program of fake movie trailers that will never see the light of day… fortunately for some! On the menu of TRAILER 3: one-armed athletes, mischievous ghosts, space Santa Clauses and terrorist zombies. Watching TRAILER is like watching 30 feature films in 90 minutes!
Each TRAILER programming is independent and therefore does not require the viewing of previous editions to be enjoyed. A “Best Of” of TRAILER 2 will be presented before TRAILER 3.

Saguenay mur à mur
You have just watched all the shorts directed by Saguenay filmmakers on filmmakers… from Saguenay. Not about to let them down at the end of the evening, are you? Join them, you and your friends, at the Sous-Bois where we will continue to celebrate. On the musical program: songs and music from Saguenay, of course. We will make you listen to le Placard, le violonneux (fiddler) Pitou Boudreault, les Colocs, Fred Fortin, the very best! Your ears and throat will be full after getting an eyeful.
Bar de quartier
A local bar, know what I’m talking about? A place where clients only have first names. The waitress of a certain age learned them by heart many, many years ago. The shining juke-box plays hits from the years 1995-2000. New faces appear. The girl who sells flowers is in reality a guy. Cougars are lurking, waiting for the dead of night to attack. The general ambiance is to flashbacks. The discount price on big beers made the heavy drinkers emerge from their dens. It can end in so many ways…
Remi-Pierre's party
After being actor, spokesperson, jury member and sponsor at REGARD, the Festival’s team asked me to organize my dream evening at the cabaret this year. Historical, legendary, unforgettable and anthological soon became my work standards. Assisted by the biggest in the night time world, we will all reach a festive level which will put to shame the shinding of the guys from Créatures de rêves before the strange-faced bikers’ arrival. Do not spend the next 20 years regretting not coming.
Violett Pi
Violet is renowned for its emetic and laxative properties since the Middle Ages. In mathematics, Pi is described as an irrational number. The combination of these two entities revolves around the ephemeral bipolarity of a young colour blind colourist, Karl Gagnon. The project started after he participated in various song contests where he gradually met musicians that will join him in his project.
