An encounter of the third kind with Denis Côté

As he just got off the plane, back from his stay at the famous Berlinale, with Vic and Flo Saw a Bear, Denis Côté made a very special stopover in Saguenay. Destined to an outstanding international career, he continues to push back the limits of creation according to his vision of cinema, as much in documentary than in fiction, often having fun in mixing both to create unique works of their kind. The one who made his mark among a whole generation of minimalist filmmakers is back this year (his first time at REGARD with Kosovolove dates back to 2000) for a privileged meeting with his public and his filmmaking colleagues.

Denis Coté

Denis Côté founds nihilproductions in the 90s and shoots about fifteen short films. He was a journalist and a film critic before directing his first feature film Drifting States in 2005. Followed by Our Private Lives in 2007, shot in Bulgarian and which went around the entire Festival circuit. Curling, his fifth feature film, was rewarded with honors at the Locarno Festival and is shown in over 70 festivals. Denis Côté, living and working in Montréal, is one of the 50 Best Filmmakers Under 50 of the 2012 edition of CinemaScope magazine.
