From the film on art to the art film

Some compare them, others confuse them. These films remain basically the work of an artist about another artist or an artistic approach which might be his own or somebody else’s.

Art and cinema lovers, literature, performance, puppets or video fanatics, this program gathers together creators who push further the limits of filmic research and who sail around the theme of space and time.

The projection will be followed by a meeting with Saguenay cineastes Alain Corneau and Boran Richard, directors of the film «Ils d’errance» which will have its first screening at the Festival.

• Bring us to Ourselves, Mikhail of Emmanuel Van Der Auwera

  In an airport somewhere, a puppet of Mikhail Gorbatchev gives a monologue in the dark, gripped by the threat of the catastrophe erupting outside. Powerless and unable to react, he awaits the creeping collapse of his world.

• Sluice Box and a Rocker of Deco Dawson

  Two hours from the Arctic Circle on permafrost-piles stand the ruins of Dawson City, the petrified hears of the Klondike God Rush. Photographed with aching preciousness and paired with archival audio accounts of gold digging pioneers.

  They have shared and confronted their method, generation, aesthetics and poetry. They inspired themselves with thematic in order to create a common dialog: the one revolving around the passing of time, the spirit of places and the ghosts that inhabit them.
